Join us for an upcoming webinar on Discovering Data and Informing Regional Ocean Health Priorities with the West Coast Ocean Data Portal
Featuring Todd Hallenbeck of the West Coast Governors Alliance on Ocean Health. The Portal recently launched new tools to help marine debris practitioners better plan for cleanups, understand impacts of debris along the coast, and advocate for better policies. Using the portal, practitioners can discover and analyze a comprehensive database of marine debris cleanup observations to visualize spatial patterns and trends. Understanding, tracking, and visualizing marine debris sources, sinks, and transport will help resource management agencies and NGOs work to prevent and reduce the impacts of marine debris and derelict fishing gear along the US West Coast. Access the portal at portal.westcoastoceans.org.

MARE launched MarineDebris.Info to provide a free and continuous forum for global discussion and announcements on marine debris. Our community includes marine debris scientists, resource managers, policymakers, industry, conservation organizations, and other stakeholders around the world.
MarineDebris.Info consists of:
- The MarineDebris.Info listserv, an online discussion forum. Click here to sign up for the listserv. Membership is open to everyone. The discussion occurs via e-mail, although you can visit recent archives on this site.
- MarineDebris.Info interactive events on subjects of interest to the marine debris community. These include webinars and our forthcoming series of scheduled online chats with experts - our "Office Hour" series. New events will be announced on the MarineDebris.Info listserv.
- And the expanding set of additional features you'll find on this site, including the Marine Debris Wiki, guidelines for open ocean cleanup of plastics, collected blogs on marine debris, and more.
If you have questions on subscribing to the listserv, would like to suggest subjects for future interactive discussions, or have any other comments for MDI, e-mail MarineDebris.Info coordinator Nick Wehner at nwehner [at] marinedebris.info
